This Privacy Policy explains how Lion, LLC ("Lion," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use the Low FODMAP Recipes: IBS Diet mobile application ("FODMAP Recipes" or the "App").

By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy is part of and subject to our Terms of Use.

1. Our Approach to Privacy

FODMAP Recipes is designed with privacy in mind. The App:

• Does not require an account or login
• Does not collect your name, email address, or other personal information
• Does not use advertising services or third-party analytics kits
• Does not access your camera or photos
• Uses the microphone only when you tap the mic in Ask AI, and turns speech into text on your device; audio never leaves your phone
• Sends only the dish or ingredient text you say or type in Ask AI to an artificial-intelligence service, to answer your question (see Section 2.6). Nothing else you do in the App goes to AI

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores a small amount of data locally on your device using AsyncStorage (a standard on-device storage mechanism). This includes:

• Your favorite recipes
• Your grocery list items and their checked/unchecked state
• The dietary preferences and the unit preference (US or metric) you have selected
• App preferences (such as whether you have completed the welcome screens)
• A cached copy of the recipe list so the App works offline
• A randomly generated device identifier and an anonymous session token (see Section 2.2). Neither is your name, email, or any personal identity. The session token is kept in the device's secure keychain, so on the same device it can survive a reinstall and your favorites come back with it.

Your grocery list, preference selections, and app preferences never leave your device and are deleted when you uninstall the App.

2.2 Anonymous Account and Automatically Collected Information

When you first open the App, it creates an anonymous account on our backend: a random identifier with no name, email address, password, or other personal details attached. The App also uses a device identifier (Apple's identifier for vendor, or a random identifier generated on your device if that is unavailable). Under these identifiers we may collect:

• Device type, operating system, and app version
• Usage events: app opens, screens viewed, recipes opened, favorites added or removed, preferences applied or changed (dietary, units, servings), whether the upgrade screen was shown, taps on locked recipes, and Ask AI actions (a question asked, and whether it was answered, failed, or hit the daily limit)
• Your answers to the short welcome survey (the symptoms you selected, the foods you avoid, how often you cook, and the measurements you cook with), which the App uses to preset your dietary and unit preferences
• A copy of your favorite recipes (recipe names only), kept with your anonymous account
• A technical record of each Ask AI question (timing and size, used for fair-use limits and cost accounting); the text you enter and the answer you receive are not stored with your account (see Section 2.6)
• Your purchase state: whether an active subscription or a lifetime purchase exists for your anonymous account (see Section 2.3)

This data is associated with the anonymous identifiers described above, not your name, email, or any personal information. It is used solely to operate, maintain, and improve the App.

2.3 Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. To recognize your purchase across app launches, reinstalls, and devices, purchase receipts are validated by RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, which links the purchase to your anonymous account identifier. RevenueCat and Apple process this information under their own privacy policies.

2.4 Notifications

The App can remind you about your free trial and suggest recipes when you have not opened it for a while. These reminders are scheduled on your device; no server sends them. Notifications are optional and only appear if you allow them in the system prompt. If you do allow them, the App may store a push notification token with your anonymous account so that we can send notifications in the future; we do not currently send any notifications from our servers, and you can turn notifications off at any time in your device's Settings.

2.5 Recipe Content

The recipes in the App are served from fodmaptracker.com, a website operated by Lion, LLC. The App ships with a copy of the recipe library and periodically refreshes it, and loads full-size recipe photos, from fodmaptracker.com. These are standard web requests: like visiting any website, they transmit your device's IP address to that site's hosting provider. No account, favorites, or survey answers are sent with these requests.

2.6 Ask AI and AI Processing

Ask AI lets you say or type a dish or an ingredient list and get an answer about what in it is high FODMAP and what people usually swap. To do this, the App sends the text of what you said or typed to an artificial-intelligence provider (Anthropic), which writes the answer. That is the only information sent: no name or email (we have none), no dietary preferences, no device identifier, and no purchase state travel with the request. The provider processes the text under its own privacy policy. The FODMAP rating shown for an ingredient the fodmaptracker.com food database recognizes comes from that database, not from the AI, and your question and its answer are not stored on our backend.

If you use the microphone, speech is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition on your device. Audio is never recorded by us and never leaves your phone; only the resulting text is used, and only when you choose to send it. Nothing you type or say is sent to AI until you tap Ask AI.

What we keep is a technical record of each request (when it happened, how large it was, and whether it succeeded), tied to your anonymous account, so we can enforce the daily limit and account for costs. The text you entered and the answer you received are not part of that record. Ask AI does not create or save recipes; your favorites are the only recipe list stored with your account (see Section 2.2).

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the App
• Recognize your purchase and unlock the App
• Monitor usage patterns to improve user experience
• Comply with legal obligations

4. Information We Do Not Collect

To be clear, we do not collect:

• Names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers
• Personal health records or diagnoses (the welcome survey asks a few general multiple-choice questions and does not ask you to log your health history)
• Location data
• Advertising IDs
• Camera or photo input, or audio recordings (speech is converted to text on your device; only the text is used)
• Payment card details

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With service providers who help operate the App (e.g., hosting), under confidentiality obligations
• If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
• To protect the rights, safety, or property of Lion, our users, or others

Third-party services we use are:

• Cloud hosting and backend (Supabase), which stores the anonymous account, usage events, survey answers, favorites, and purchase state described in Section 2
• Subscription management (RevenueCat), which receives your anonymous account identifier and purchase receipts to validate and recognize purchases
• Apple, which processes payments through the App Store
• Artificial intelligence (Anthropic), which receives the dish or ingredient text you enter in Ask AI, to answer your question (Section 2.6)

These providers process the data only to deliver the App and under their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data to them or to anyone else. No other artificial-intelligence provider is used.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information only for as long as necessary to:

• Provide the App
• Fulfill the purposes described in this Policy
• Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

You can delete your data at any time within the App using "Delete My Data" (Profile > Delete My Data). This deletes your anonymous account, your favorites, and your purchase-state record from our backend, removes the link between your usage events and your account, and clears your favorites and dietary preferences on your device. The App then starts a fresh anonymous account. A technical record of Ask AI usage (timing and size, never your text) may be retained for service accounting; after deletion it no longer maps to any account. Deleting your data does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage that in your App Store account settings. You may also request deletion by contacting us at the email listed below, subject to applicable legal requirements.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the information we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Delete your data directly within the App (Profile > Delete My Data)
• Withdraw consent where applicable

California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA. EU residents may have rights under GDPR. Contact us to exercise these rights.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn such data has been collected, we will delete it promptly.

10. Third-Party Services

The App does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework or access the device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and it does not include any third-party analytics or advertising software development kits.

The App may contain links to external websites (such as fodmaptracker.com and our legal pages); those sites are governed by their own privacy policies.

11. International Users

If you access the App from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other jurisdictions.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
